Announcement of Dr. L. Michael Morales to Chair of Biblical Studies

Posted On February 28, 2014

Through God’s grace, Reformation Bible College (RBC) continues to grow, which means that we have the blessed task of finding godly and gifted professors and administrators to handle the needs of the school. With that in mind, RBC President Dr. R.C. Sproul Sr. and the Board of Directors of Ligonier Academy of Biblical and Theological Studies are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. L. Michael Morales to the position of Chair of the Department of Biblical Studies.

“Combining a concern to train students in the things of God with a deep love for the truths of God’s inerrant Word, Dr. Morales will help guide Reformation Bible College in its commitment to biblical orthodoxy for some time to come,” Dr. Sproul Sr. said on the occasion of this announcement.

Dr. Morales has served at Reformation Bible College as provost and professor of Old Testament since 2010, providing leadership as the school moved from the planning phase to holding its first classes as an institution of higher learning. Since the college opened in the fall of 2011, Dr. Morales has taught the majority of the courses in biblical Hebrew and Old Testament studies as well as several of the Great Works classes. His teaching coincided with his role as one of the chief administrators of the institution and liaison to Dr. Sproul Sr. and the Ligonier Academy board.

“Since opening its doors, Reformation Bible College has been passionate about training up a new generation of Christians deeply rooted in the Word of God,” Dr. Morales said. “In keeping with that vision, our biblical studies department is committed to walking every student of every degree program through every book of the Bible. Eager to pass on not only a love for the Scriptures, but for the Christ of the Scriptures, I am honored to be given the post of chair of biblical studies.”

Dr. Morales brings pastoral and administrative experience and academic accomplishment to his role as chair of the biblical studies department. Before joining the faculty and administration of RBC, Dr. Morales served as instructor of Hebrew and Old Testament as well as instructor of Christianity and culture at Knox Theological Seminary in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He also served four years as a pastor, and he currently holds ministerial credentials in the Presbyterian Church in America. Dr. Morales has degrees from Emmanuel School of Religion in Johnson City, Tenn. (MA in Religion), Knox Theological Seminary (MDiv), and Trinity College, Bristol, England (PhD).

In addition to teaching, Dr. Morales is making a positive contribution to our understanding of the Bible through his writing and editing. He is the assistant editor for Old Testament for the forthcoming revised edition of The Reformation Study Bible, and he is editing and writing two upcoming volumes on biblical theology in the Pentateuch. His dissertation was published in 2012 as The Tabernacle Pre-Figured: Cosmic Mountain Ideology in Genesis–Exodus.

Please join us in praying for Dr. Morales and Reformation Bible College as Dr. Morales assumes this new position.
