Why I Chose RBC: Learning in Community

Posted On December 19, 2025

Adam Chumley is a freshman at RBC pursuing his B.A. in Theology and majoring in Christian Thought. We recently asked him about his experience at Reformation Bible College.

Adam was initially attracted to Reformation Bible College because of its connection with Dr. R.C. Sproul—which led to him attending one of RBC’s on-campus Preview Days.

It was there that Adam witnessed something else about RBC that resonated with him on a deep level.

“As I walked through the campus during Preview Day, I had the pleasure of getting to see the tight-knit community firsthand.”

This experience of an education grounded not only in Scripture and the Reformed tradition, but also in sharing life with other students and faculty members, proved decisive for Adam.

“The care each of the students has for one another and that the faculty has for each student was the leading cause of my attendance at RBC.”

Now that he’s finished his first semester, Adam still identifies RBC’s community as the distinctive that he’s most grateful for.

“The moments spent talking with each professor, alongside moments laughing with students, have left an indelible mark on my heart and mind.”

Adam expressed his appreciation especially for the professors at RBC. He explained that they excel not only at teaching their students but in caring for them as well.

“Each of the professors have had an amazing impact. They have exemplified the care and love of Christ both within the classroom as well as outside in the everyday lives of students.”

Being musically inclined, Adam has also relished the opportunity to participate in the Reformation Chorale led by director Drew Pace.

“I have found great joy in the moments spent with the Reformation Chorale. Music has always been a prominent aspect of my life. In the sacred spaces of song, the everyday difficulties seem to fade away.”

In his remaining time at RBC, Adam hopes that his understanding of God and His Word will continue to deepen. Seeing the Lord’s providence in the friendships he has formed, Adam also hopes that those connections will deepen as well.

“The first and foremost goal is to gain a biblically grounded view of God. I also hope to gain deeper relationships with the people God has surrounded me with and that those relationships will carry into the later chapters of my life.”
